Individual and Group Horsemanship Lessons,
Jolly has been riding horses since he got his first Shetland Pony when he was four years old. He learned to ride in the traditional California hackamore and spade bit era before the snaffle (English) bit became popular. He also spent 17 years in the Southwest and Texas riding Texas style with the Texas Grazing Bit. Jolly teaches riders how to develop a light touch on the bit getting out of the mouth and into the saddle. Jolly began training horses for pay in his teen years and has started close to 200 colts and BLM Mustangs.
When asked who he studied under to get his horsemanship training he promptly replies: “Mostly from my Dad, but my real training came from Trigger, Jet, Blaze, Tinker-bell, Rock, Rowdy, Rebel, Black Bart, Sheriff, Deck, Smokey, and about a hundred or so others.”>
Jolly is available for individual or group riding instructions at his place or yours (provided you have a safe place to ride. If you don’t have a safe place to ride, check out the PortaFlex Safety Round Pen.

Testimonial: What a satisfied customer has to say!
Our first horse was one that had been neglected in almost every way. He had probably never been trimmed in his life. I called a local farrier to come trim him. One look and that farrier decided he wasn’t going to touch Woody. He just knew that this horse was destined for the glue factory and he didn’t want to be blamed. Thankfully we found out about Jolly. We brought Woody to him from about two hours away. Jolly knew the horse was a mess but he also saw his potential. Jolly trimmed all his hooves three times each. It was an amazing amount of hoof that was removed. When he was done, the hooves were all at the correct angle and our horse had a new lease on life. Jolly didn’t stop there. He took my two daughters and me to his Port-a-Flex round pen to begin training. It wasn’t just horse training, it was just as much owner training. Step by step he guided us all through the training. The progress was stunning. The results speak for themselves. Woody is our fastest and most reliable mount. He does great on trail rides and round ups. The ribbons and trophies tell the story of the parades he has been in. Jolly doesn’t just trim, shoe and train, he cares about horses and people. James Ashford
